Join us for a four-session introductory wheel throwing class! Over the course of four weeks, beginner potters will be guided through the entire process from throwing on the wheel to the final glazing stage. This process has many steps that your instructor will demonstrate and guide you through. In the first two sessions, you will learn how to center the clay and begin forming your vessels. During the third session, the vessels will be trimmed (creating a base). Verge staff will do the first firing (bisque) and then you will come back for the fourth and final class to learn about several glazing options and glaze all your creations. You will have plenty of time to practice and staff will fire everything for you to pick up at a later date. No previous experience is needed. All tools and materials included in registration!

Directed by Jennifer Trainer, MUSEUM TOWN tells the story of a unique museum, the small town it calls home, and the great risk, hope, and power of art to transform a desolate post-industrial city. In 2017, MASS MoCA became the largest museum for contemporary art in the world—but just three decades before, its vast brick buildings were the abandoned relics of a massive shuttered factory. How did such a wildly improbable transformation come to be? A testament to tenacity and imagination, MUSEUM TOWN traces the remarkable story of how a small rural Massachusetts town went from economic collapse to art mecca.
