ART CLUB: Art in Activism

ART CLUB was crafted by youth for youth to share space, vocalize ideas and challenge oneself to go beyond self imposed barriers. We will watch short videos and films at the beginning of each Art Club that correlate to the month’s theme and will lead us into discussion. We will occasionally have local artists from the community speak to the students as well. Gain connection with other like minded young creatives in the Sacramento community and join Verge’s ART CLUB! Art Club is ran and facilitated by Verge's high school intern with the support of Verge staff members.

This monthly event is FREE and open to all High School aged students.

May's Topic: Art in Activism

How can art serve as a potent instrument in activism? In what ways does an individual's creative expression have the ability to engage and enlighten audiences, particularly during moments of urgency? Artists who harness their talents to confront political or social challenges frequently emerge as advocates for those whose voices go unheard. In this session of the art club, students will explore artists who utilize their creative endeavors to advocate for change within their communities.
